Abstract

516,991. Substation equipment; electric couplings. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. (Nys, L. J. G.). July 15, 1938, No. 210.80. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A telephone substation is provided with a jack whereby an auxiliary transmitter may be plugged in and the normal transmitter disconnected. The auxiliary transmitter may, for example, be a throat microphone or a microphone inside a gas-mask. The jack comprises two metal bushes 3, 4 for receiving the pins of the plug 19, and one of the bushes 3 carries a bent spring 6 which normally engages a contact 20 on a spring 5 and which has a, hard rubber stud 7 projecting into an aperture in the other bush 4. The telephone cord is led into and out of the jack casing 1 through insulating bushes 25, 26 and the wires are connected to the bushes 3 4 and spring 5 by screws 9-11, the circuits being as shown in Fig. 4. Alternatively, the jack may be built into a desk set.
