A plug and socket coupling according to the parent Specification is modified by the provision of increased insulation in the form of spring-pressed insulating washers 21 on the current-carrying pins 7 which are retained in the bores 8 of the socket body 4 by a metal plate 15 and normally close the contact-entry-apertures in the plate. Insulating sleeves 27 are also provided round the current-carrying socket pins 23 on the plug.
