[Class 17 (ii)] A sandal is provided with a rubber ground sole 1 formed with an upstanding peripheral flange 2 to accommodate an insole 3, and with a local thickening 9 in the region of the arch. The ends 5a of securing straps 5 are located between the insole and sole, which is preferably recessed to receive them so that they lie flush. A channel is formed on the tread side of the sole to receive the securing stitches or metal clips for fastening the ends of the straps.
