Abstract
515,009. Supports for mine roadways. STEEL ARCHES, Ltd., and MITCHELL, J. May 20, 1938, No. 15038. [Class 20 (ii)] A steel-arch supporting system for use'in mine roadways and the like comprises arched supports and longitudinal struts disposed between them in alignment, and in order that each separate strut may be easily replaced, the struts are bolted separately on opposite sides of the line of struts. The struts B of sectional metal have end plates 1 welded to them, the extensions of which are apertured to receive the bolts for securing abutting struts on opposite sides of the same arch A, the bolts for each strut being disposed on opposite sides of the line of struts. The end plate may be formed integrally with the strut by cutting off-one flange and the web for a distance from the end and bending up the remaining flange.
