Abstract
423,996. Bridges. HAMILTON, A. M., 30, Pond Place, South Kensington, London. May 12, 1933, No. 35869/34. Divided out of 423,926. [Class 20 (i)] A gusset plate, for framed bridges and bridgelike framed structures, comprises a plate 1, Figs. 1 and 2, adapted for the attachment of chord members 2 and web-bracing members 3, and having at its ends means, such as flanges 6, for the attachment of transverse members 7 of the structure. In the construction shown, the flanges 6 are welded to the plate and terminate short of the bottom thereof to allow of the attachment of the chord members. In a modification, wherein the gusset is employed in a double-truss Warren girder of double depth, the flanges 9, Fig. 7, are interrupted midway of their depth to permit of the attachment of longitudinal members 10 to the plate 1. Transverse plate members 11 attached to the flanges serve to connect the trusses together. Specification 423,926 is referred to.
