Abstract
513,758. Sliding windows. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and REID, T. June 3,1938, No. 16619. [Class 20 (iii)] The guiding means on the fixed or moving frame of a sliding window comprises two interengaging members which, by means of a screw device or devices, are relatively adjustable in the plane of the window. In the construction shown, the glazing member 4 of the sash 2 is formed with a channel 6 adapted to house a guiding channel 3. The latter engages with a rib 1 on the fixed window frame and is fitted with a shoe 7 which projects through an aperture in the channel 6. The shoe houses a nut member 8 which is engaged by a screw 9 the head 10 of which is supported in a recess 11 of a bracket 12 fitted to the member 4. The head 10 has end flanges which fit on opposite sides of a projection 15 of a cover cap 16 thus preventing endwise movement of the screw when the latter is turned to adjust the position of the channel 3 with respect to the member 4. A spring member 18 housed in the recess 11 has a projection which, by engaging with one of a number of holes 21 in the head 10, serves to hold the screw in its adjusted position. Similar screw devices may be employed at any number of points along the length of the guide. The adjustable guiding means may be mounted on one or both sides of the window.
