Abstract

1,171,576. Automatic door stop. ED. SCHARWACHTER. 23 Feb., 1968 [25 March, 1967], No. 8926/68. Heading E2X. A door stop for automatically holding doors in the open position (indicated by full lines in Fig. 1) comprises a door-retaining strip 10 pivotally mounted e.g. on a door 12 about a spindle 14, which has in one side edge 17 a recess 15, and guide means 11 attached e.g. to a door-way member and having two rollers 19, 20 for engagement of the door-retaining strip, the roller 20 being adapted to act against a torsion spring shown as a C-shaped wire in Fig. 2. The spring is supported in a casing of said guide means 11 (Fig. 3 not shown) such that one end 37 supports roller 20 and the other end 25 rests on an extension 23 of said casing. On opening the door the strip 10 slides between the rollers 19, 20 until the depression 15 engages roller 19, under the action of the spring, to produce the locking action.
