Abstract
513,284. Imitation fuel. BELLING & CO., Ltd., and EASTWOOD, M. April 6, 1938, No. 10552. [Class 126] Imitation solid fuel is formed by folding one or more sheets of thin fiexible fire-proofed material 7 closely about a skeleton wire frame 1 with a plurality of upstanding portions, so as to form an irregular undulating surface shaped according to those upstanding portions, and by colouring and/or otherwise decorating the upstanding parts 8, 10, 11 of the material to resemble coal, logs, or other forms of fuel. The flexible material may be tissue paper, animal skins, paper with a linen or cambric base or which is highly absorbent but strong while wet, muslin, a fine but open cloth, synthetic resin plastic sheeting, which is fireproofed, dried, and immersed in gelatine or other colloidal substance, and is then placed over the wire frame. Before the gelatine has set, the sheeting is sprayed with or dipped in formaldehyde. Colouring may be applied in a gelatine solution. Groundglass and/or powdered mica, sand, silica, powdered coal, or small lumps of coal or logs, may be applied. Amylacetate may be used to obtain bright local spots. Specification 461,378 is referred to.
