Abstract

512,228. Automatic guns. VERWALTUNGSGES. DER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Jan. 23, 1939, No. 2327. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1938. [Class-92 (ii)] Relates to the Oerlikon type of inertia-locked automatic gun in which the moving breech parts, comprising the breech-block 7, the breech bars 6, and the abutment 11 of the recoil spring 10, are cushioned at their front and rear reversal points by buffets such as 3, 14, respectively. According to the invention, the rear reversal buffer 14 is mounted in a crosshead 2 to which the barrel 1 and the breech,casing 5 are detachably connected, the breech bars are in the form of thin-walled tubes 6 guided in the crosshead 2, and the recoil spring 10 is mounted on a tube 12 spaced from the barrel to provide air passages 17 for cooling purposes. The separate buffer springs 4, 13 may be replaced by a single spring system mounted in the crosshead.
