Abstract
511,870. Automatic firearms. CESKA ZBROJOVKA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST V. PRAZE. March 1, 1938, No. 6403. Convention date, April 8, 1937. [Class 119] Automatic firearms are adapted to be cocked manually by a handle 65 pivoted on a slidable cover 6 of the casing of the breech mechanism. The handle is pivoted at 64 on a lateral lug of the cover and is retained in its extreme positions, e.g., horizontal and vertical, by a spring plunger 68. The handle is forked, the forward member of the fork having a segmental end 70 to engage in front of a projection 71 on the breech-block carrier 5, and a projection 72 adapted to engage in a recess in the casing 4 when the handle is operated, in order to lock the cover to the casing. The handle being in the vertical position, the part 70 engages in front of the projection 71 on the breech-block carrier and thus cocks the weapon on rearward movement of the handle. The handle is then moved forward and rotated to lock the cover to the casing, thereby freeing the breech mechanism for automatic operation. The member 70 of the handle is formed with a ramp leading to a face 74 which will engage with the projection 71 on the breech-block carrier and thus prevent the weapon from being discharged unless the handle is fully depressed in the position in which it locks the cover to the casing. The front wall of the cover 6 has a recess which, :n the closed position of the cover, allows a loading clip to be positioned for charging the magazine from above.
