Abstract

511,601. Moulding collapsable containers. HUTTON, H. W., and EYSSEN, G. R. Dec. 21, 1937, No. 35396. -[Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] A collapsable tube or container for food &c. is made entirely of synthetic plastic material, the rigid head part being injection moulded and the tubular body being either part of the injection moulding or an extruded tube internally, united to the head part. The plastic material may be vinyl chloride, polystyrene, or acrylic acid esters with or without plasticisers. The container may be injection moulded in one piece the body having a slightly tapered wall to facilitate removal from the mould. Alternatively a tube is first extruded and the end is then clamped in a mould in which a screwed head is formed on the tube by injection. The open end of the tube is closed after filling by a heated tool.
