Abstract

511,439. Hinged valves. ALDER & MACKAY, Ltd., and PEET, A. Feb. 17, 1938, No. 4942. [Class 135] A valve for gas meters or the like having a facing 5 of leather or other pliable material is backed by material such as felt saturated with lubricant and has a disc member 7 carried by the valve operating means, which disc member compresses the saturated material each time the valve is closed so as to maintain the facing in a pliable condition. The saturated material comprises a felt pad 4 which is located in a cylindrical member 3 in which the disc 7 slides freely. The disc 7 has a centre pin connected to allow slight universal movement with a pivoted operating arm 10 which may itself be resilient. The facing 5 is held in place by a rim 6 and engages a seat 1.
