Abstract
510,838. Drying webs. JAHR, W. Nov. 5, 1938, No. 32094. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1937. [Class 34 (i)] The cylinder of a folding machine 5 or other means for conveying materials in web form W at the discharge end 4 of flat web drying machines or stretching, tentering and drying machines, is driven at a greater speed than the conveying means, such as tentering chains 2, in the drying chamber, so that the material can be fed to the conveying means in the latter in a quantity more than sufficient to counterbalance its shrinking capacity. The material is fed on to the chains at a speed in excess of that of the latter. The ratio of the speeds of the cylinder 5 and the chains 2 is continuously varied by means of gearing 6.
