Abstract

510,409. Winding and twisting spindle apparatus. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. Nov. 2, 1938, No. 31736. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1937. [Class 120 (ii)] Spindle apparatus for winding yarns, particularly for twisting and winding is provided with a flyer 7 loosely mounted on the wharl or other rotating part so as to engage the thread when thrown on to initiate the winding and to stop readily if obstructed, as by a finger of the operative. As shown, the flyer is formed in two parts having their ends 13, Fig. 4, twisted together and provided with hooks 14 shaped to avoid projections which would injure an operative, and is carried in a groove in the wharl of a cap spindle. The wharl is provided with a cap 3 to overhang the bolster to shield the thread from thrown oil.
