Abstract
508,882. Two-part couplings. SUBKIS, G. Feb. 12, 1938, No. 4430. [Class 38 (i)] A coupling-member for use with both a bayonet-cap lamp holder and a wall socket comprises a body a having formed thereon a bayonet plug extension with contacts b, through which slide pin contacts c mounted on a crossbar d and moved by handles g projecting through slots k in the body. The pins are retained in either extended or withdrawn position by the handles g co-operating with enlarged ends of the slots, the handles being pressed in against the action of a spring f to bring necks h on the studs into line with the slots k to allow the cross-bar d and pins c to slide. Alternatively, a rod E, Fig. 3, slides in the slots k and is turned on a pivot at the centre of the bar d to move its ends into recesses L at the ends of the slots k. A spring M tends to slide the cross-bar d in one direction and causes the rod E to grip in the recesses L.
