Abstract

678,314. Lamp holders. EKCO-ENSIGN ELECTRIC, Ltd., BOO, W. DE, and GEISOW, B. H. Jan. 4, 1951 [Jan. 4, 1950], No. 175/50. Class 38 (i). A holder for a double-ended tubular lamp having parallel projecting pins at each end, comprises a casing 1 having the lamp pin contacts 6 in a plunger 4 which is forced normally be a spring 5 to project from the casing and is rotatable when 'projecting, the plunger having a key 9 registering with an opening 8 in the casing so that when the lamp pins are being inserted the plunger cannot be rotated, and when the insertion is complete the plunger is returned by the spring to its normal position wherein it is rotated to bring protuberances 14 connected to the contacts 6 into locking engagement with contacts 10 in the casing, and is locked therein against longitudinal movement. The plunger has protrusions 11 which engage recesses in the contacts 10 to retain it against accidental rotation. An earthing plunger 13 projecting from the plunger 4 is connected via the spring 5 to an earthing connection for the lamp cap. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 691,980.
