[Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVII] Encased electrical power switchgear is characterised by a switch panel which alone supports the actuating buttons and their switch contacts and is adapted to be secured in and close an aperture in the casing or be secured to and close a conduit box included in the switchgear as a remote control. In Fig. 1 a cradle 2 carries a switch panel 14, an oil tank 4, an inspection cover 42, and is fixed to a conduit box 36, by means of threaded lugs 39 and corresponding lugs and screws 37, 38. The oil tank is secured by means of threaded lugs 5 and corresponding lugs 3, screws 7 with long shanks 8 of reduced diameter and with toggles 9 to enable the oil tank to be lowered without being removed. The switch mechanism is supported from holes 10 in a sill 11 of the cradle. The switch panel is secured by screws passing through lugs (not shown) in the cradle to threaded projections 17 and carries switch contacts 22 secured by screws 24 and connected by push buttons passing through apertures 26 in the panel. The contacts 22 are adapted for easy connection to the switchgear. Flanges 25, 47 are provided to ensure exact location of the various parts. If it is desired to use the panel for remote control of the switch mechanism it may be mounted on a conduit box the aperture in the cradle being closed by an approximately shaped simple panel.
