Abstract

507,036. Casting-machines. SCHWEINBURG, A. Oct. 11, 1938, No. 29407. [Class 83 (i)] Moulds.-In a machine for casting zinc, aluminium, copper-aluminium-magnesium alloy, &c. having a block 4 containing mould cavity 6, gate 8, and pressure chamber 5 with a common dividing surface, the gate is closed, before casting, by a piston 9 sliding in a bore 7 divided by said dividing surface and having its axis parallel thereto. The end wall of this piston closes the wall opening of the chamber (as shown) but is moved to the right, when the plunger 11 moves down, by a device 10. In modifications there may be two gates, two mould cavities, and two pistons 9 or a single piston may control two gates.
