Abstract

504,491. Drying tubular fabrics. COURTAULDS, Ltd., and BEARDSLEY, G. A. R. Feb. 14, 1938, No. 4574. [Class 34 (i)] In apparatus for drying a tubular fabric 8 comprising a series of spaced rings 1, along which the fabric is passed whilst hot air is passed along the interior thereof, and a baffleplate 6 to deflect the hot air evenly through the walls of the fabric, the rings immediately above and below the baffle-plate are supported by means which leave a free space between the outer edge of the baffle-plate and the fabric. The upper of these rings is supported with the superposed rings by means of the struts 4 of a metal frame secured at its upper and lower ends to a central rod 3 by stays 5. The lower ring is supported partly on the central metal rod 3 by stays 5 and partly on the top of the air supply tube 2. The tube 2 may be perforated for preliminarily drying the fabric. The underside of the baffle-plate may be provided with a number of curved ribs, and the rings may be perforated.
