Abstract
503,775. Forced-flow steam boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Oct. 11, 1937, No. 27617. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1936. [Class 123 (ii)] Coiled small-bore tubing in the walls of the combustion chamber A and flue chamber B of a forced-flow boilor is arranged with parts one above the other to form a continuous heat absorbing surface in the wall H separating the chambers. A tube 1 is bent' backwards and forwards along the sides and bottom of the boiler, and forms the lower part of a partition G projecting upwards into the flue chamber. The tube is then coiled around the combustion chamber and connected to a separator 3. A second tube 2 is also bent backwards and forwards around the bottom part of the boiler and across the boiler to form a lower part of the partition G. The tube is then coiled upwardly in the chamber B in the form of a flattened figure eight. Curved horizontal parts alternate with parts of the coil in the chamber A to form the wall H and horizontal intermediate parts form the upper part of the partition G. The upper end of the tube discharges in the same manner as the tube 1 into the separator 3. The gases from the chamber B flow upwards over a superheater 8, a feed-heater 16 and an air-heater 23. Water is supplied to the evaporating tubes 1, 2 from the feed-heater through resistances, as described in Specification 490,459. The excess water is taken off from the separator through a coil 28 arranged at the inlet and outlet of the air heater. Specifications 489,168 and 490,456 also are referred to.
