Partitions and baffles in water space. - The steam drum of a boiler having a screen of water-tubes D for protecting the wall of the combustion chamber is provided with transverse overlapping baffles G, H located preferably between the screen tubes and the generating tubes B so as to prevent turbulence due to the passing of the water and steam from the screen tubes into the drum. Some of the screen tubes may be connected to a header disposed outside the combustion chamber and communicating with the steam drum through tubes F.
