501,229. Organo-arsenic compounds. ZAKLADY CHEMICZNE HYDROX SPOLKA Z OGRANICZONA ODPOWIEDZIALNOSCIA, and ENDE, A. Feb. 17, 1938, No. 4964. [Class 2 (iii)] For the preparation of 3 : 3<1>-diamino-4 : 4<1>. dihydroxyarsenobenzene-formaldehyde sulphoxylate in the pure state, a salt of the crude arsenobenzene base is dissolved in an aqueous organic solvent and treated first with a small quantity, about 10-20 per cent, and then with the remainder of the requisite amount of sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate, the intermediately-formed precipitate resulting from the first treatment being rejected. Solvents mentioned are aqueous methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol and glycol. Examples described the treatment of the hydrochloride of the base. Specification 7865/12, [Class 2 (iii)], is referred to.
