Abstract

500,897. Vehicle wheels. RUBERY, OWEN, & CO., Ltd., and FREEMAN, P. J. Nov. 27, 1937, No. 32780. [Class 144 (i)] A detachable wheel, preferably of the pressedmetal type, is fitted with a side disc covering the wheel-attachment means and adapted at its periphery for quick attachment to the wheel (e.g. as described in Specification 454,807), the disc and the exposed annular portion of the wheel body simulating a wheel with a one-piece covering-disc having a single central attachment means. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the covering-disc comprises an outer portion 28, adapted to engage studs 26 on the wheel-disc 32, with a central aperture 35 which is permanently closed by a cap 29 shaped exteriorly to simulate a nut or like central securing-means for a one-piece covering- disc. In this form, the disc 28 and the exposed part of the wheel-disc, are formed with channels 31, 40 respectively. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, a separate channel-ring 41 is fitted over studs 43 on the wheel-disc. In a further modification, the nut-like central cap-portion is formed in one piece with the main body of the covering-disc.
