Abstract
500,775. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 12, 1938, No. 14208. Convention date, May 15, 1937. [Class 38 (ii)] In a H.T. transforme protection against surge is obtained by increasing the capacily of that part o the H.T. winding immediately connected to the H.T. circuit. This is effected by winding the layer con nected to the H.T. circui from strip conductor, mean being provided for increasing the capacity between turns. In one form a metallic insert connected to the H.T. end of the winding is arranged between the first and second layers. In a modification, Fig. 2, the first layer is formed of wide sectioned conductors 3b with a metallic strip insert 4b arranged between the layers and in such a position as to cover the gaps in the first layer. In a further modification, Fig. 3, the first two layers 3b, 3b<1> are formed of wide sectioned conductors and relatively staggered. These layers may be connected in series or parallel.
