Abstract
500,614. Endless - chain conveyers. HOPKINS, A. D., and HOPKINS & SONS, Ltd., G. Aug. 7, 1937, No. 21793. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group VI] In apparatus for pasteurizing bottled &c. goods, the bottles &c. are pushed over a stationary platform 3 by transverse bars 18 attached to two endless chains 15, two sliding plates 29, 30, running on rollers 31 being provided at the, discharge end of the platform between which a gap is opened to allow descent of the bars 18. The plate 30 has an upstanding lug 34 which is engaged by the pusher bars 18 which move it forward, to form the gap, away from plate 29 which is also moved forward by the engagement with a depending abutment 32 thereon of rollers 33 secured to a wheel 16. The plate 29 isadvanced further nearly to close the gap. A roller 36 is supported by lugs 36<1> on plate 30, and on a forward movement of the plate engages with one arm 38 of a bell-crank lever which is rocked bringing its other arm 41 into the path of rollers 42 on a wheel coaxial and rotating with wheel 16. When a roller 42 engages with arm 41 the lever is rocked and the plates 29, 30 are pushed back to their initial position.
