Abstract
499,449. Receivers. RAPPENECKER, A. E. March 15, 1938, No. 7969. Convention date, March 16, 1937. [Class 40 (iv)] A telephone receiver has an interchangeable sound-reproducing unit comprising a magnet, polepieces, a terminal plate and diaphragm mounted on an annular frame to form a complete unit which is inserted in a receiver housing comprising two parts detachably secured together. A ring 4 carries an annular washer 7 formed with projections 15 for the terminals 8 and on which is mounted a ring shaped permanent magnet 9 carrying polepieces 10 which support coils 11. The unit is completed by an annular member 6, which clamps the diaphragm 5 against the edge of the wall of the ring 4. The unit is mounted in a housing comprising a part 3 connected by screw threads 16, 17 to a front part 1 provided with sound passages and a rim 18 for supporting the receiver on the ear. The connecting cord to the unit passes through a hole 13 in the part 3 and relative movement between this part and the unit is prevented by forming projections or recesses on the ring 4, and corresponding portions on the part 3.
