Abstract

498,610. Free-piston air compressors. PESCARA, R. P. July 16, 1937, No. 19805. Convention date, July 17, 1936. [Class 8 (i)] In a free-piston internal-combustion air compressor, especially one in which the air is supplied to the engine, the exhaust of the engine supplying a turbine &c., compression takes place in stages in spaces 5, 6, the compression in each being simultaneous with the suction in the other ; the air is transferred through a valved external passage 7 or a valved passage in the common piston 3, the ratio of compression in the first stage being substantially less than that in the main stage. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the subject-matter of Specification 498,900. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
