Abstract
494,578. Sanitary traps. ELDER, D. April 22, 1937, No. 11503. [Class 33] A sanitary trap comprises an outer chamber a, Fig. 2, a tubular inlet extending thereinto from an entrance-opening at the top of the chamber so as to form an anti-siphon space between the inlet and the chamber-wall, an outlet b so formed that its top is level with the entrance-opening, and a lip b<1> near the outlet so formed that the distance between the bottom of the lip and the bottom end of the inlet is greater than the height of the lip ; moreover, as in Fig. 1, a baffle d may be provided at right-angles to the inlet. In Fig. 2, the chamber is substantially cylindrical and is bulged at a<1> and the inlet is concentrically arranged within it ; in Fig. 1, the body has flat sides and the tube is formed by a web c<1>. In a further form, the inlet is conical for part of its length, and in another form, the arrangement resembles that shown in Fig. 1, the chamber, however, being perfectly cylindrical. In a still further form, the lower part of the chamber is in the form of a removable hemisphere and the inlet is flared at its lower end. This latter feature may be applied to the other forms which may also be provided with cleaning- plugs.
