Abstract

492,045. Torpedo boats ; launching torpedoes. SPURR, E. March 18, 1937, No. 7906. [Class 113 (ii)] [Also in Group XXI] A torpedo boat of the hydroplane type and being of aerofoil form in profile has torpedo compartments 10, each provided with hinged lower doors to enable the torpedo to be dropped through the bottom. The boat is formed with two planing steps, the stern step being narrow and only extending between the torpedo compartments. Two sets of engines 18 are provided which may drive either two propellers, or one only through gearing. Gunners' compartments are formed in the superstructure 5, and also in the hull at 7 and 9. Dinghies 17 are housed in two covered compartments 16. Specifications 485,572, 488,440, and 492,046 are referred to.
