518,878. Hydroplane vessels; propelling. KUMPE, J. Sept. 5, 1938, No. 25961. [Classes 113 (ii) and 114] Arcuate skids K of 120- 140 degrees carry the hull of a ship through side walls W when the vessel is travelling at speed; the skids are slightly turned up at the bow. Additional parallel walls may be provided between the side walls, for large vessels. The vessel is propelled by an air-screw P, and an auxiliary starting and low speed water-screw may be provided. The vessel is trimmed by elevators H, h.
