Abstract
579,035. Hulls. TAYLOR (CHERTSEY), Ltd., J., and SUCKLING, G. A. June 9, 1938, No. 17101. [Class 113 (ii)] On hulls of stepless planing type boats are fitted longitudinal projections or strakes to increase the planing action of the hull at speed. The strakes a extend from the transom c to a point e near the stem d where they are tapered away flush with the outside surface of the hull planking f. The strakes are so constructed that the lower edge b projects beyond the upper edge of the strake immediately below it and so forms planing surfaces. These lower edges may be bevelled so as to have a vertical reaction upon the water.
