[Class 122 (v)] Cup-leathers g are lubricated by means of leather or other rings i which store lubricant. As shown in Fig. 1 a piston-rod d is packed by means of two cup-leathers g, each enclosing a leather ring i. The rings are secured by means of suitably-shaped spacing rings k<11>, m, and a gland c. The packing may be carried by the cylinder a, as shown, or by the piston-rod. As shown in Fig. 3 a space t is left in the interior of the cup-leather, to which lubricant is fed through passages o in the spacing ring n and in the leather ring i.
