Abstract
Products stated to have emulsifying properties are prepared by treating aliphatic oxido sulphonic acids having not more than six carbon atoms in the molecule with fatty, resin or naphthenic acids having at least eight carbon atoms in a carbon chain. In an example, dry sodium 2 : 3-oxido-propane-1-sulphonate is heated with technical stearine. The use of oleic, colophonic and naphthenic acid is mentioned. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also (a) the formation of the aliphatic oxidosulphonic acids, in the form of salts during the reaction by treatment of the corresponding a -chlor-b -oxysulphonic acids with alkalies, and (b) the treatment of glycidylcetylether with alkali bisulphite, sodium sulphanilate or sodium phenolsulphonate. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:Products stated to have wetting, foaming, washing and emulsifying properties are prepared by treating aliphatic oxido sulphonic acids having not more than six carbon atoms in the molecule with fatty, resin or naphthenic acids having a carbon chain of at least eight carbon atoms. In an example, dry sodium 2 : 3-oxidopropane-1-sulphonate diluted with common salt is heated with molten technical stearine. The use of oleic, colophonic and naphthenic acid is mentioned. The aliphatic oxido sulphonic acids may be prepared by treating aliphatic a -chlor-b -oxysulphonic acids with alkalies such as caustic alkali or potassium carbonate. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also (a) the formation of the aliphatic oxidosulphonic acids, in the form of salts, during the reaction, and (b) the treatment of glycidyl cetylether with alkali bisulphites, sodium sulphanilate or siodium phenolsulphonate. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
