Abstract
485,978. Screw propellers. VEREINIGTE DEUTSCHE METALLWERKE AKT.-GES. Oct. 11, 1937, No. 27565. Convention date, Jan. 9. [Class 114] A mounting for variable pitch propeller blades is constituted by a two-part sleeve which is divided transversely of the root, one part being screwed directly to the root and carrying the thrust race bearing. Blade roots f are held in a socket by means of a sleeve which is in two parts g and h which are screwed together. The sleeve member h also has a flange i for supporting the thrust bearing k, and also integral therewith is a worm gear m. The two sleeves g and h are united by a thread which is, in addition, guided by overlapping extensions p and q. In the upper socket portion q, projections r are provided which serve as axial guides for an insertable ring s having teeth s<1>. The teeth s<1> engage in corresponding gaps in the upper rim of the lower sleeve member h, and secure the latter against turning or detachment. In order to keep the ring s in position, it is held by split ring t which is snapped in a groove in the sleeve member g.
