Abstract

485,369. Printing-machines. POLLAK, J. E. (Kiess & Gerlach Maschinenfabrik) Nov. 14, 1936, No. 31200. [Class 100 (ii)] A platen printing-machine is constructed for three-colour printing by arranging three dies 1, 2, 3 one behind the other in a common printing head, the printing-surfaces being distributed as desired over the surface of the dies, and the central die 2 is projected below the dies 1, 3 while the inking-rollers W<1>, W<2>, W<3> are moved across the dies in one direction, and the die 2 is retracted while the motion of the rollers W<1>, W<2>, W<3> is reversed. The rollers W<1>, W<2>, W<3> are controlled by means of guide discs which are brought into contact with guide rails L<1>, L<2>, L<3>, in such a manner that the rollers W<1> ink the die 2 in one direction of movement, and the rollers W<2>, W<3> ink the dies 1, 3, respectively during the reverse movement. The die 20 is normally raised by springs arranged in a double plunger carrying the die, and the die is controlled by a lever 10 operated by a lever 12 and a cam 14 on the shaft of the ink-supply apparatus. The dies print in conjunction with a toggle-operated platen 26, actuated by a cam 31 on a shaft S which also has a cam 24 for operating the inking-roller carriage 21 via lever 23 and link 22, the carriage moving to and fro in a direction parallel to the direction of travel of the web.
