Abstract
484,595. Stabilizing compounds for photographic materials. KENDALL, J. D. Nov. 7, 1936, No. 30374. [Class 98 (ii)] A stabilizing compound for inclusion in a silver halide emulsion layer or adjacent thereto comprises 2-amino-4-hydroxy-pyrimidine or its alkyl, aryl, aralkyl and arylene derivatives, their tautomic compounds and salts of such compounds. The stabilizing compound may be included in the support, in a layer between the support and the emulsion layer, in a protective layer coated on the emulsion surface or in the wrapping paper. The finished photographic material may also be bathed in a solution of the compounds. Examples given in the Specification include 6-methyl-2-amino-4- hydroxy-pyrimidine, benzoylene guanidine, 2-amino-4-hydroxy-5-benzyl-6 - methyl-pyrimidine, and 2-amino-4-hydroxy-6-phenyl-pyrimidine. Results of tests for chemical fog are also given. Specification 452,043 is referred to.
