Abstract

In the extraction of mineral oils with selective solvents, the oil is first treated with sulphuric acid. About 0,5 to 10 per cent of concentrated acid is used. Heavy oils containing asphaltic and resinous substances are especially suitable for treatment. Acid sludge is separated by a centrifuge. Selective solvents specified are, phenol, cresol, liquid sulphur dioxide, nitrobenzene, aniline, toluidine, nitro-toluol, crotonaldehyde, acrolein, b b 1-dichlorethyl ether, furfural, ethylaniline, dichlorbenzene, or mixtures thereof, with or without added benzene.
