Abstract
480,511. Electric incandescent lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 29, 1937, No. 21045. Convention date, July 29, 1936. [Class 39 (ii)] In order to prevent blackening of the bulb 10 of a lamp provided with a filament 15 located between leading - in wires 14 and arranged substantially in the plane of the wires, a flat screen 21 is mounted above the filament in a plane closely adjacent, and substantially parallel, to the plane passing through the leads 14 so as to lie in the path of particles which are vaporized from the filament and deposited thereon. In the example, a pair of screens 21 are provided, each supported by and preferably electrically connected to one of the leads 14, and extending to a position adjacent to the opposite lead. The screens may be made of nickel and spot welded to the leads 14 by narrow strips of metal 22 placed over the ends thereof. The filament 15 is of the monoplane type supported by intermediate wires 16, 17 mounted on insulating bridges 18, 19 which are connected to the leads 14 by wire members 20.
