Abstract

477,629. Cutting devices for paper &c. webs. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., NASMITH, J. I., and DANIELS, F. K. Aug. 19, 1936, No. 22820. [Class 31 (i)] In a device for cutting a strip of paper into lengths comprising co-operating reciprocating and fixed cutters 10, 14, the fixed cutter 14 bears adjacent its cutting edge 17 against a rounded abutment 19 integral with or attached to the support 15 and is capable of rocking thereabout against the action of spring-pressed pins 21. The cutter 14 is loosely connected to the support by a pin 16 and is prevented from swinging by pins 16<1>. The paper 22 to be cut is preferably of inverted- V-section, the cutter edges 10, 17 being of corresponding form The cutter 14 may be cut away at 18 to facilitate the removal of cut paper. The cutter 10 may be adjustable by a screw 12 controlled by a locking spring 13. The paper may be fed by a reciprocating gripper 23.
