Abstract

475,705. Knitting-machines. POTTER, E. (Maachinenfabrik Einsiedel Ges.) Dec. 18, 1936, No. 34870. [Class 74 (ii)] In knitting a stocking upon a straight-bar machine, the two thread guides and slur cocks during the production of the two heel portions carry out motions in opposite directions, and both thread guides are positioned at the inner heel edges when the heel portions are started. Two slur bars 1, 2 are provided, each of which supports a slur cock 14, 15, and the slur cock castings 12, 13 arc connected to bars 3, 4 caused to move in opposite directions by levers 5, 6 controlled by cam grooves 7<1> of a cam 7. The motion in opposite directions of the two thread guides and slur cocks may be carried out only in the first courses of the heel portions, the completion of the heel being effected in usual manner with both thread guides running in the same direction.
