Abstract

475,284. Water-doctors for calenders; coating webs. THAMES BOARD MILLS, Ltd., and HENSHALL, H. June 30, 1936, No. 18136. [Classes 96 and 140] In the manufacture of paper, cardboard, &c. water, size, dye, &c. is applied to the roll 8 of a calender &c. from a trough 1 of a waterdoctor pivoted about and fed from a pipe 9 with perforations 10 and having a sluice 3, and a lip 5 slotted at 6 above an overflow compartment 12 and having a felt 7, the arrangement avoiding temperature irregularities. The pipe 9 and overflow may be valve-controlled.
