[Class 35] [Also in Group VIII] The tendency of a wet paper web to adhere to heated rollers during pressing, smoothing or drying is reduced by using heated metal rollers coated with a dissimilar metal which by thermoelectric effect acquires a potential (negative) of the same kind as that acquired by the paper. A roller, e.g., of iron, having trunnions b and means for steamheating is given an electricallydeposited coating c of nickel, German silver, cobalt, chomium, tungsten or alloys, or a bronze shell is shrunk on.
