Abstract

Powdered rubber, e.g. that prepared according to Specification 388,341, 392,592, 395,775, 410,875 or 439,777, is mixed with not less than 20 per cent of sulphur, and optionally with softeners, fillers, accelerators, pigments, and is vulcanized to the ebonite stage. By vulcanizing under a follow-up pressure, compact articles are produced; in the absence of pressure, a porous friable mass is obtained which is readily ground to powder.
