Abstract

Indiarubber, balata, &c., are rendered fire-proof by adding thereto 5-15 per cent of triphenyl phosphate, tri-cresyl phosphate, triphenyl borate or a mixture of triphenyl and tricresyl phosphate. The esters are preferably added in the form of an emulsion and at the time of masticating with the usual fillers, sulphur, &c.
