Abstract
473,255. Multitubular steam boilers. ADAMSON & CO., Ltd., D., and PARKYN, P. A. W. May 8, 1937, No. 13184. [Class 123 (ii)] The rear part 8 of the furnace of a returntube boiler is of reduced diameter and smoke tubes 18 below the part 8 connect the combustion chamber 9 with a flue space 11 covered by an ash-receiving platform 14 below the grate 12, the flue space opening at its front end into a return-flue chamber 15 which is connected by smoke-tubes 19 to the combustion chamber below a partition 16. The furnace gases pass from the combustion chamber backwards through the tubes 18 and space 11 and forwards through the tubes 19 to the outlet 17, or the partition may so enclose the ends of the tubes 18 that the gases pass first backwards through the tubes 19 and then forwards through the space 11 and tubes 18.
