Abstract
466,827. Two-part couplings. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and BOOTH, J. H. Dec. 30, 1935, No. 35984. [Class 38 (i)] A lamp-holder particularly for interior lighting of motor vehicles, comprises an insulating block 5 carrying a lamp-holder sleeve 8 within which are located contacts 10, themselves non-resilient, against which act springs 16 attached to terminals 12 secured in the block and reinforced by helical springs 18 let into the terminals. The contacts 10 consist of shouldered rods sliding in an extension of the block 5, but the insulating mount within the sleeve 8 may be separate from the block and the contacts 10 may then be rigidly secured in the mount which itself slides under the action of the springs 16. In this case the mount can be inserted from the rear of the block 5, the aperture being then closed by a plate 6 which is employed in any case to enclose the terminals and springs. The block 5 is screwed to a support 19 that is secured by a bolt 22 to a frame member 21 of the vehicle, a slot 23 allowing adjustment to bring a flange 26 on the support 19 into contact, with the interior panelling 24 of the vehicle a reflector 29 and shaped spacer 32 then clamping the edge of the hole 25 in the panelling.
