Abstract
465,770. Percussive drills. POTTER, H. S. Oct. 22, 1936, No. 28739. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1935. [Class 124] The front head of a percussive drill has a water box 14 inserted in it so as to be capable of slight axial movement. Water enters from a spigot 18 carried on a radial arm 15 and passes through holes 28 in the drill steel, the end of the axial bore of which is plugged by a plug 27. Leakage is prevented by packings 22 which are kept apart by a perforated stainless steel ring 24. The drill steel is supported by collars 8, 11 and 12, the latter being lubricated by wicks 40 from a lubricant reservoir 39. The plain collar 12 may be substituted by roller bearings.
