Reservoirs and channels in vertical shaft bearings. - A spinning spindle 48 is supported in a casing 25 by bearing sleeves 33, 41 spaced apart so as to form an oil reservoir 44 by a spline 40. Both sleeves have a slight clearance in the casing 25, that for the upper sleeve 41 being less than that for the lower sleeve 33. Two or more grooves 45. 46 are formed longitudinally in the upper sleeve 41 to permit oil working up the spindle to return to the reservoir 44.
