428,497. Force - feed lubricating. NATIONAL SUPPLY CORPORATION, 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A., and OIL WELL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., Cheadle Heath, Stockport, Cheshire. April 12, 1934, No. 11088. Convention date, Sept. 12, 1933. [Class 12 (iii)] [See also Group XXI] A swivel for well-drilling apparatus comprises a body 1 supported by bails 3, and a sleeve 8 secured to the drill pipes and rotatable in bearings comprising a downthrust bearing 11, an upthrust bearing 10 and radial bearings 12, 13, the sleeve 8 and the bearings being removable as a unit. An anchor plate 16 for the bearings is normally held by a sleeve 20 and a threaded split ring 21 locked by a screw 32. The upthrust bearing 10 is supported on a collar 26 threaded to the sleeve 8. A sleeve 30 and shims 31 between the bearings 10, 12, provide for adjustment. Lubricating means comprises a cam 44, Fig. 3, on the collar 26 which operates a spring pressed plunger 40 to pump oil from the body 1 through ports in the body and cover 14 to the bearing 13 which is surrounded by a sleeve 47 over which the oil passes to the remaining bearings.
