Abstract

463,564. Stuffing - box packing. PEYINGHAUS. W., (trading as EISEN UND STAHLWERK W. PEYINGHAUS). Oct. 1, 1935, No. 27128. Convention date, Oct. 1, 1934. [Class 122 (v)] In a packing comprising two oppositely directed L-shaped rings 1, 2, each ring consists of a strip of resilient material rolled to angular section and bent to circular form, the ends 13, 15 of the strips are angularly displaced and one or more springs are provided to compress the rings on to the shaft. A spring 12 may be arranged between supporting rings 3, 4 stitched or riveted to the packing, or two springs or elastic rings of felt, fibre, &c. may be provided, one embracing each axial flange of the rings 1, 2. Rotation of the packing is prevented by a projection 8 engaging a recess in the housing and by flattened portions on the edges of the rings. The packing may be supported in a metal casing. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the constructions of leather &c. packing-rings as shown in Figs. 11-14 (Cancelled). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
